Jargon-buster's mission to help businesses comply
International trade specialist Hannah Stansfield (pictured) joins Chamber International as a compliance expert helping businesses create slicker import-export operations. Hannah, who has specialised in global markets for more than 20 years, was one of the first people to be awarded an NVQ in international trade. She received her initial training from Chamber International and has worked closely with the organisation ever since. "It's about helping businesses realise the best savings on duty with bilateral free-trade agreements," said Hannah. "I'll enable them to be prepared for audits from HM Customs & Revenue as well as advising on tariff classification and import-export requirements. "Basically I break down the technical terminology and turn jargon into understandable English so they understand it for their particular business needs. I can help businesses identify savings without creating more internal work." Hannah has a background in freight forwarding, the manufacturing and corporate sectors where she specialised in reviewing international classification and compliance procedures. Specifically Hannah will also be on hand to advise on the new changes to European VAT rates which came into force at the beginning of this year, an area where she believes many companies have very limited knowledge. "This is one of the biggest changes ever for how VAT figures are provided," she added. "Although it's a simplified process, many companies could be fazed by it and may need support from Chamber International." |
